About

Courtney is from Lake Oswego, Oregon, and graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in Horticulture, and then earned her Master's in Landscape Architecture from Washington State University> She has over 25 years of experience designing landscapes with Land Concern in Southern California and then Vala-Christensen Landscape Architects in Portland until starting her own design business in 2009. She currently works with local builders and homeowners to help design landscapes for custom homes as well as remodels of existing homes. When she's not designing landscapes, she's volunteering at the high school, teaching horticulture.

    Courtney is amazing with her designs for gardens. Any outdoor space around the home is well thought through with ideas on the best plants for that space. She thinks about the space and how it will look thought the whole year and not just when the plants are blooming and green. She takes into consideration of type of soil, lighting, hardiness, etc and does not use plants only for looks, but for how well they will thrive. She also does amazing work with outdoor patio pots and has won awards for her pot designs. I loved working with her for designing our garden space.

How does the Landscape Design Process work?

It begins with a meeting on site and discussion of design goals. A survey of existing conditions showing your house floor plans will be required and then preparing a Design Proposal for the project. After the acceptance of the Design Proposal, the first phase is a Conceptual Drawing along with a Plant images. Once approval I will then turn them into Landscape Construction Drawing which include a Planting Plan, Layout/Hardscape Plan and a Schematic Lighting Plan. These plans can then be sent out to your chosen Landscape COntactors for bids.

Do you offer Project Management?

Yes, once the Construction Plans are completed and sent out to contractors to bid I am available to review and provide input on the estimates. I have a handful of talented Landscape Installation Contractors that I will work with and can share their information. Project Management also includes ensuring that the design are followed and implemented per plan and that any changes from the plan needing to be made on site are true to what was designed on paper. It aslo includes plant palcement and making sure that all plant substistutions meet the design requeirments.

What areas do you serve for landscape design?

I currently only take on new projects in and around Lake Oswego, and I'm typically booked 1-2 months out.

Do you offer Installation?

No, while I do not offer installations I do offer valuable and opinions to ensure that the project is executed correctly aligning with the client's visions and goals. Additionally I work with a talented Landscape Installation Contractors and can provide their information.
